Compound Microscope ASI-M110
The Alcon ASI-M110 Compound Microscope is the upgraded model in our student compound microscope range. It shares the optical layout of the ASI-M100 — 100X to 675X magnification with Semi Plan objectives — but improves the parts that wear fastest in a busy teaching lab: metal focus knobs, pinch slide clips, higher grade lenses and mirror, and widefield eyepieces fitted as standard.
What the ASI-M110 upgrades
- Metal focus knobs in place of plastic, for a firmer feel and longer service life
- Pinch clips for slide placement, which hold specimens more securely than simple clips
- Higher grade lenses and mirror, giving a brighter, sharper image
- Widefield eyepieces as standard, rather than as an optional upgrade
Key features
- Magnification from 100X to 675X in the standard configuration
- High-resolution Semi Plan objectives: 10x/0.25 and 45x/0.65, both 160/0.17
- Widefield 10x and 15x eyepieces (16 mm FOV) fitted as standard
- Metal body with metal coarse and fine focus knobs
- Triple revolving nosepiece with positive click-stop
- Plano-concave mirror illumination, with optional plug-in LED

Who this microscope is for
Schools and colleges that want a longer-serving instrument than the entry-level model, and labs where microscopes are handled by many students each week. A sensible choice where budget allows a step up from the ASI-M100.
Frequently asked questions
What magnification does the ASI-M110 give?
100X to 675X in the standard configuration, using the supplied widefield 10x and 15x eyepieces with the 10x and 45x Semi Plan objectives — the same optical range as the ASI-M100.
What is the difference between the ASI-M110 and the ASI-M100?
The ASI-M110 has metal focus knobs instead of plastic, pinch slide clips instead of simple clips, higher grade lenses and mirror, and widefield eyepieces fitted as standard. The optical layout and magnification range are the same.
Why do widefield eyepieces matter?
They give a wider field of view, so students see more of the specimen at once. This makes locating and following a specimen considerably easier for beginners. On the ASI-M100 these are an optional upgrade; on the ASI-M110 they are standard.
Are metal knobs worth the difference?
In a teaching lab, yes. Focus knobs take the most handling of any part of a microscope, and metal knobs resist wear and cracking far better than plastic over years of student use.
Does it need a mains power supply?
No. Illumination is by plano-concave mirror, so it works at any bench regardless of power points. A plug-in LED light is available if you prefer electric illumination.
Can I use it for oil immersion work?
Not in the standard configuration. A 100X objective (100X/1.25, 160/0.17) is available as an optional upgrade.
Do you supply schools and colleges in bulk?
