Compound Microscope ASI-M120
The Alcon ASI-M120 Compound Microscope is the top model in our compound microscope range. It carries the highest grade optics we fit, and adds two features found on no other body in the range: a movable observation head inclined at 60 degrees, and a moveable condenser.
What makes the ASI-M120 different
- Movable inclined head at 60 degrees — unique to this body. The inclination lets students view comfortably while seated, and the head moves rather than being fixed in one position.
- Moveable condenser — also unique to this body. Adjusting the condenser controls how light is focused onto the specimen, which materially improves contrast and resolution on stained and low-contrast slides.
- Highest grade optics in the Alcon range, above both the ASI-M100 and ASI-M110.
Key features
- Magnification from 100X to 675X in the standard configuration
- Semi Plan objectives: 10x/0.25 and 45x/0.65, both 160/0.17
- Movable observation head, inclined at 60 degrees
- Moveable condenser for light control
- Triple revolving nosepiece with positive click-stop
- Plano-concave mirror illumination, with optional plug-in LED

Who this microscope is for
College and university practical labs, teacher demonstration benches, and any lab doing extended slide work where viewing comfort and light control matter. The inclined head makes long sessions considerably easier on the neck and back than a vertical eyepiece.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the ASI-M120 and the other models?
The ASI-M120 is the only model in the range with a movable observation head inclined at 60 degrees and a moveable condenser. It also carries the highest grade optics we fit. Magnification and objectives are the same across all three models.
Why does a moveable condenser matter?
The condenser focuses light onto the specimen. Being able to adjust it lets you control contrast and resolution, which makes a visible difference on stained sections and low-contrast specimens. Neither the ASI-M100 nor the ASI-M110 has one.
Why is the head inclined at 60 degrees?
An inclined head lets the user look down into the eyepiece while sitting upright, instead of bending over a vertical tube. For practical classes running an hour or more, this makes a real difference to comfort.
What magnification does the ASI-M120 give?
100X to 675X in the standard configuration, using the 10x and 45x Semi Plan objectives — the same optical range as the ASI-M100 and ASI-M110. The difference between the models is in optical quality and mechanics, not magnification.
Does it need a mains power supply?
No. Illumination is by plano-concave mirror, so it works at any bench regardless of power points. A plug-in LED light is available if you prefer electric illumination.
Do you supply colleges in bulk?
Yes. We supply institutional and bulk orders across India and export to more than 40 countries, including complete science lab set-ups. Contact us for quantity pricing.
