Laboratory Pipettes
Borosilicate laboratory pipettes from Alcon Scientific Instruments, supplied to school, college, hospital and industrial laboratories across India.
Graduated and volumetric
Two types are supplied and they are not interchangeable. A graduated pipette is marked along its length and can deliver any volume up to its capacity, which suits general transfer work. A volumetric (bulb) pipette has a single calibration mark and delivers one fixed volume to a higher accuracy — this is the one to use for preparing standard solutions and for titration work where the aliquot must be exact.
Borosilicate glass
Made from borosilicate rather than ordinary soda-lime glass, giving better resistance to thermal shock and to attack from most acids and solvents.
Safe use
Always draw liquid using a pipette filler or bulb. Pipetting by mouth is unsafe and has no place in a teaching laboratory. Pipette fillers are available separately.
