Measuring Cylinder
Borosilicate measuring cylinders from Alcon Scientific Instruments, supplied to school, college, hospital and industrial laboratories across India.
Borosilicate glass
These cylinders are made from borosilicate glass rather than ordinary soda-lime glass, giving better resistance to thermal shock and to attack from most acids and solvents.
What a measuring cylinder is used for
Where a beaker gives only a rough indication of volume, the measuring cylinder is the instrument you reach for when the quantity matters. The tall, narrow form means a given volume occupies more height, so the graduations are further apart and can be read more precisely. Read the volume at the bottom of the meniscus with the cylinder on a level surface and your eye at the same height as the liquid.
